MERL Techs next NLP-CoP Ethics & Governance Working Group meeting is on November 14th at 10 EST / 3pm UK/ 5pm EAT- register here!

There is great hope that AI will help us make sense of vast qualitative data lakes, including reports and other large narrative documents, and that it will help us move beyond sampling to analyze entire datasets – potentially uncovering new insights. Join us for a panel on AI-enabled qualitative data synthesis when we will explore the following questions:

Question 1: What do we know AI can do well, where does it currently perform poorly, and where are the greatest ethics and governance risks?

Question 2: How can we ensure AI-powered processes include diverse methodologies, impact results, and enable participatory, contextual insights?

Question 3: How have the speakers included human oversight/ human in the loop (HITL) and validation?

Question 4: What skill sets and specialist knowledge did the speakers need and how much investment was required to run the experimental approaches?

At this meeting, we’ll be hearing from**:**

  • Elizabeth Long - the Founder and Behavioral Designer at DTA Innovation, who will be discussing her work assessing whether AI can support the emergence of meaningful SBC insights during formative research.

  • Niamh Berry - Senior Director of Measurement & Impact at Caribou Digital, who will share her experience leveraging innovative tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, diversity, and inclusivity, and progress with Gen AI and equity-focused approaches.

  • Steve Powell - the Founder of Causal Map, who will discuss data lake management, redaction challenges, and AI bias focused on dialect prejudice influencing AI decisions.

We hope you can make it - register here!
